Captain Paul Allgeier, a native of Midlothian, Virginia, graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1997 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Systems Engineering.

At sea, CAPT Allgeier served as the Ordnance and Communications Officer in USS RUSSELL (DDG 59), as a Main Machinery Room Division Officer in USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73), as the Operations Officer in USS SAN ANTONIO (LPD 17) and as the Electrical Officer in USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65).  In February 2014, he took over as the Executive Officer of the USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL (DDG 81).  

From September 2015 to May 2017, CAPT Allgeier commanded USS WINSTON S. CHURCHILL.  Following command, CAPT Allgeier served as Reactor Officer in USS ABRAHAM LINCOLN (CVN 72).  

Ashore, CAPT Allgeier served as the Officer-in-Charge at Norfolk State University Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps Unit, as the Surface Nuclear Officer Program Manager and as an Action Officer on the Joint Staff in the Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate (J-5) and the Chairman’s Action Group.
