Command Master Chief Jessica Kerr is a native of Belmont, N.C. She enlisted in the Navy in April 2002,attending basic training in Great Lakes, Ill. and upon completion transferred to Pensacola, Fla. for Electronic Warfare “A” School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Justice Administration in 2009 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration in 2011 from Hawaii Pacific University.

Kerr’s sea duty assignments include serving on destroyers, aircraft carriers, and cruisers in both the Mediterranean Sea and Western Pacific. She served as an electronic warfare operator aboard USS Porter (DDG 78); direct support leading chief petty officer (LCPO) aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73); electronic warfare LCPO and plans and tactics departmental LCPO aboard USS Chosin (CG 65). Her shore assignments include National Security Agency/Central Security Service Hawaii. She is a graduate of the Navy’s Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 210, Green) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course (Class 196).

Her current assignment is Command Master Chief, USS Charleston (LCS 18) Blue Crew.

Kerr is the recipient of the 2016 Master Chief Anna Der-Vartanian Leadership Award. She has also received the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Joint Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (five awards) and various campaign, unit and service awards.
