CAPT Dan Cook is currently the Commanding Officer for Amphibious Construction Battalion ONE in Coronado, CA. He hails from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and has earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science degree (Construction Engineering and Management) from Purdue University. He was commissioned in May 1996 upon completion of the NROTC program.

Other operational assignments include service as the Operations Officer of the TWENTY SECOND Naval Construction Regiment and as the Operations Officer of Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO. He has also served onboard USS ARLEIGH BURKE (DDG 51) as the Fire Control Officer and Strike Warfare Officer and onboard USS NASHVILLE (LPD 13) where he served as Repair Division Officer, Main Propulsion Division Officer, and finally as the Main Propulsion Assistant. In these assignments, he has deployed to the Mediterranean, Europe, Africa, Cuba, and the Middle East.

Shore assignments include recent duty as the Operations Officer at Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southwest where he was responsible for the delivery of over $2.4 Billion of annual facilities products and services. He has also served as the Public Works Officer (N4) for Naval Base Coronado, managing the infrastructure on one of the largest consortiums of military installations in the Navy. He was also the Commanding Officer at Naval Construction Training Center, Port Hueneme, CA. Before assuming command, he served as the Assistant Regional Engineer (J44) in Joint Region Marianas, Guam, assigned to NAVFAC Marianas. He was also the Executive Assistant for the Commander of NAVFAC Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia and an architect in the Facilities Engineering and Acquisition Division for the Public Works Department, Naval Station Norfolk at NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic.

 Other shore assignments include duty at NAVFAC Midwest as the Activity Public Works Officer and Deputy Resident Officer in Charge of Construction for Naval Station Great Lakes and Recruit Training Command during the recapitalization of the Navy’s only boot camp. CAPT Cook's personal awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and the Navy Achievement Medal. He was honored in 2010 with the Moreell Medal from the Society of American Military Engineers. He is qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare officer and Surface Warfare Officer, a Registered Architect, and a member of the Department of Defense Acquisition Corps with a Level III DAWIA certification.
