Cmdr. Travis Dvorak enlisted in the Navy as an Electronics Technician in 1997 and completed the Nuclear Power training pipeline. Upon graduation from the University of Arizona (BSEE) in 2002, he was commissioned via Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. He also holds a Master of Science degree in Astronautical Engineering at the Naval Postgraduate School.

His operational tours include five deployments while serving aboard USS Curts (FFG 38), USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), and USS Makin Island (LHD 8). He previously served as executive officer of USS Kansas City (LCS 22) and executive officer of USS Tulsa (LCS 16)

Ashore, he served as the executive officer of the Commander Naval Air Forces Nuclear Power Mobile Training Team and later, as the curriculum director for the Surface and Mine Warfare Development Center in Point Loma, California.

His current assignment is commanding officer of USS Tulsa (LCS 16) Gold Crew.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals (five awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various campaign medals and unit awards.
