Master Chief Kurtiss Vervynckt, is a native of Mishawaka, Indiana. He graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1998. In September 1998, he enlisted in the United States Navy and completed Recruit Training, Advanced Electronics Technical Core, and Electronics Technician “A” school in Great Lakes, Illinois.

CMDCM Vervynckt’s sea tours include USS Ponce (LPD 15), USS Independence (LCS 2), Coastal Riverine Squadron Three, USS Cowpens (CG 63) and USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). He is currently serving as Command Master Chief of USS Spruance (DDG 111).

Ashore, CMDCM Vervynckt served at the Center for Surface Combat Systems Dam Neck, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Chinhae, Isa Air Base Bahrain, and Afloat Training Group San Diego.

Master Chief Vervynckt holds a Bachelor’s of Applied Science Degree from American Military University and is a graduate of the Chief Petty Officer’s Academy Class 120 and the Senior Enlisted Academy. He is also a graduate of various service schools for Electronic Technicians and Expeditionary Sailors.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 awards), and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal in addition to various unit level awards.
