Command Master Chief (Surface Warfare/Aviation Warfare) Jeromy Hartley Command Master Chief, COMDESRON ONE

CMDCM (SW/AW) Hartley is a native of California. He enlisted in the United States Navy in October 1997 as an undesignated Fireman Recruit. Upon completion of boot camp, he reported to his first command, USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70) stationed in Bremerton, Washington in February 1998, where he struck the rate of Damage Controlman.

His assignments at sea include tours on the USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52) and USS Nimitz (CVN 68). He was selected to the CMDCS program where he served on the USS Ardent (MCM 12). In 2018 he was selected to CMDCM and has served on the USS Sampson (DDG 102), USS Cape St. George (CG 71).

Ashore, he served as a high risk firefighting instructor at TSC San Diego, Disaster Preparedness Operations and Training Specialist in Okinawa Japan, and at Afloat Training Group Pacific. Currently he is the Command Master Chief of DESTROYER SQUADRON ONE (CDS 1).

CMDCM (SW/AW) Hartley is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 199, Brown) and the Command Master Chief/COB course in Newport, Rhode Island. He holds an Associate’s degree in Fire Science from Columbia Southern University.

Personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (second award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (second award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (fifth award), Good Conduct Medal (eighth award) and numerous unit and campaign awards.
