Master Chief Petty Officer, Andres “Dre” Mejia (Command) reported to Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Chicago, in January 2003 and began his career as a Seaman Recruit. He joined the Master-At-Arms Rating after graduating MA “A” School out of Lack land AFB, Texas in May 2003. He has served in a myriad of sea duty assignments, including Mobile Security Detachment 33, Mobile Security Squadron THREE (MSS-3), Coronado, CA, Maritime Expeditionary Security Detachment 531, Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron FIVE (MESS-5), Imperial Beach, CA, as Chief Master-At-Arms (CMAA) onboard USS SHOUP (DDG 86), Everett, Washington, Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) onboard PRECOM USS SANTA BARBARA (LCS 32) Blue Crew 229, San Diego, CA, CSEL onboard USS MONTGOMERY (LCS 8) Blue Crew 208, San Diego, CA and eventually hull swapping to USS OMAHA (LCS 12), San Diego CA. His previous shore tours include service as a Law Enforcement Patrol Officer, Security Detachment onboard Naval Submarine base (NBPL), Point Loma, San Diego, California, as Watch Commander for Security Detachment, Naval Air Station (NASL), Lemoore, California, and most recently as Senior Enlisted Leader for Training and Evaluation Unit, Coastal Riverine Group ONE (CRG ONE), Imperial Beach, San Diego, California. He completed five shipboard deployments to the Western Pacific, Mediterranean and Central Command in support of Pacific Partnership, counter-piracy operations during Africa Partnership, and a 199-day combat deployment during Operation Inherent Resolve. He also served on numerous detachments including Exercise MALABAR and RIMPAC while attached to USS SHOUP (DDG 86) and also completed two Dry Dock out-of-area Selected Restricted Availabilities while attached to USS OMAHA (LCS 12).
He assumed the duties as Command Master Chief on August 27th, 2021 onboard the USS OMAHA (LCS 12) Blue Crew 208, and serves as the Senior Enlisted Leader to the Captain regarding all training, assessments, certifications, Morale and Welfare of the crew.
Mejia is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 220/Gold), the Command Master/Chief of the Boat Course (227) and has been awarded the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (five awards), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and various other personal and unit awards.
