08 October 2021 PHILIPPINE SEA -- 211008-N-FA490-1005 Lt. Cmdr. Francisco Samalot, from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, serves as helm safety officer on the bridge of the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6) during routine operations. Jackson, part of Destroyer Squadron Seven, is on a rotational deployment, is operating in the U.S. 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force in support of free and open Indo-Pacific region.
