LCDR Earvin Taylor is a native of Jackson, MS. He attended the United States Naval Academy where he majored in General Science and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in May 2007.
His initial sea tour was in USS NASSAU (LHA 4) where he served as the Electrical Officer (2007-2009). His second tour was at Expeditionary Strike Group Two (ESG 2) where he worked on the N4 staff (2009-2011). While attached to ESG 2, he deployed as an IA to Forward Operating Base (FOB) Sharana, Afghanistan where he led a postal platoon.
After his division officer tours, LCDR Taylor went on to NPS where he earned a Master of Science in Systems Engineering on July 2013. He also completed JPME Phase 1. In July 2015, LCDR Taylor started his first Department Head tour as the Weapons Officer (WEPS) in USS MONTEREY (CG 61). Upon completion of his tour as WEPS, he was selected to fleet-up to Combat Systems Officer (CSO) for his second Department Head tour.
He finished his tours on June 2018 and immediately began the PXO/PCO training pipeline. LCDR Taylor reported to USS PATRIOT (MCM 7) February 2019 and fleeted up to Commanding Officer October 2020.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards).
