Master Chief Johnson is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada. He enlisted in the Navy in March 1997 and completed the Naval Nuclear Power Pipeline in March of 1999. In February 2000 Master Chief Johnson converted to conventional Machinist Mate.

Master Chief Johnson reported to the USS Dubuque (LPD 8) and where he served as oil king. He transferred to the United States Naval Academy in 2003 where he qualified Master Training Specialist and Craftmaster of the Navy 44 foot sail training craft. In 2006, he reported to Assault Craft Unit FOUR (ACU 4) as Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) Engineer, where he deployed in 2008 and 2009 and qualified Engineering Officer of the Watch. He was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 2010 and qualified LCAC Craftmaster in 2011, completing a deployment in 2014 as Detachment DELTA Leading Chief Petty Officer onboard USS Mesa Verde (LPD-19). From June 2017 to January 2018, he was assigned to Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO (ACB 2) as Command Master Chief during a gap in their CMC billet. 

Master Chief Johnson is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy Class 192 (GOLD) and holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Environmental Science from American Military University. His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (3 Awards) and the Navy Achievement Medal (3 Awards) and various campaign and service awards.
