LCDR Dean Kirby

EXECUTIVE OFFICER, USS PATRIOT (MCM 7)

16 July 2024 Lieutenant Commander Kirby is a native of Seattle, Washington. He enlisted in 2004 and commissioned through the STA-21 program from Old Dominion University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
 
At sea, he served as a Vertical Launching System technician aboard USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom;  First Lieutenant and Fire Control Officer aboard USS Ramage (DDG 61) supporting maritime security operations in the 6th Fleet AOR and ballistic missile defense operations in the 5th Fleet AOR.  Additionally, he served as the Engineer Officer aboard USS Pinckney (DDG 91).

Ashore, Kirby served as a Naval Reserve Officer Training Corp instructor at the University of Washington.  He also earned a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College and completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase 1.

LCDR Kirby is currently serving as Executive Officer in USS PATRIOT (MCM 7).
