Balikatan is an annual exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. military designed to strengthen bilateral interoperability, capabilities, trust, and cooperation built over decades shared experiences. Balikatan, Tagalog for 'shoulder-to-shoulder,' is a longstanding bilateral exercise between the Philippines and the United States highlighting the deep-rooted partnership between both countries. Balikatan 22 is the 37th iteration of the exercise and coincides with the 75th anniversary of U.S.-Philippine security cooperation.

USS Jackson (LCS 6) Maintains Diesel Engine

220309-N-FA490-1055 APRA HARBOR, Guam (Mar. 9, 2022) – Engineman 2nd Class Jesse Webster, from San Diego, assigned to the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6), closes blow down ports on a main propulsion diesel engine (MPDE) in an engineering space of Jackson. Attached to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 7, Jackson is on a rotational deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of security and stability in the region, and to work alongside allied and partner navies to provide maritime security and stability, key pillars of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
