A native of Clear, Alaska, Commander Maddox graduated from Norwich University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and commissioned through Navy ROTC.

Afloat, Commander Maddox completed his division officer tours aboard the USS SHILOH (CG-67) as the Electrical Officer and OI Division Officer and then aboard the USS McCAMPBELL (DDG-85) as the Fire Control Officer. Later, he completed his department head tours aboard the USS MICHAEL MURPHY (DDG-112) as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer. He next went to staff duty with Commander, Carrier Strike Group ONE as the Assistant Surface Operations Officer. 

Ashore, Commander Maddox attended the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, CA earning a master’s degree in National Security Affairs.  He later served as the Officer-In-Charge of Combat Craft Platoon with EOD MU1.  His most recent tour was as the Director of International Training for Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific (EWTGPAC).

He is currently the Executive Officer for USS MIGUEL KEITH (ESB-5) Blue Crew.

Commander Maddox’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 Awards), as well as multiple unit and service awards.
