Master Chief Kristi D. Thrift is a native of Littlerock, CA. She enlisted in the Navy in August 1996 and attended basic training at Great Lakes, Illinois. She is a graduate of Senior Enlisted Academy Class 206.
In October of 1996, Thrift reported to Builder ‘A’ School in Gulfport, MS before proceeding to her first duty station at Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) FOUR in Port Hueneme, CA. During this tour, she made deployments to Okinawa, Japan, Norfolk, VA, Hawaii, and Andros Island. Upon completion of her first tour, she advanced to Second Class Petty Officer and qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist. In July 2001, she transferred to Construction Battalion Unit 410 Jacksonville, FL where she was stationed from July 2001 to January 2005. During this tour, she served as Project Supervisor and Leading Petty Officer (LPO) and advanced to First Class Petty Officer. In January 2005, Thrift transferred to NMCB FORTY where she completed deployments to Okinawa, Japan, Fallujah, Iraq, and Kuwait, and was selected for Chief Petty Officer and qualified as Fleet Marine Force. In September 2009, she transferred to the Naval Construction Training Center (NCTC) in Port Hueneme, CA. While there, she served as the CMCT and Builder Course Manager responsible for the construction skills training for the West Coast NCF. In December 2012, CBCM Thrift transferred to Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 303 Detachment Lemoore, serving as Operations Chief, resulting in her selection for Senior Chief Petty Officer. She then reported to NMCB FOUR where she completed deployments to China Lake, CA, Okinawa, Japan, and Panay, Philippines. In November of 2016, she transferred to Naval Construction Group ONE, serving as Training Chief, resulting in her selection to Master Chief Petty Officer. Thrift reported to NMCB FIVE in June 2019, where she served as the Charlie Company Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO), Air Det LCPO, Detail Guam Assistant Officer in Charge, and the Delta Company LCPO, where she was then selected to be a Command Master Chief.
CMDCM Thrift reported to Amphibious Construction Battalion ONE in Coronado, CA, in June 2022 where she currently serves as the Command Master Chief.
Master Chief Thrift is a qualified Seabee Combat Warfare Specialist, Expeditionary Warfare Specialist, Fleet Marine Force, and Master Training Specialist. Her awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (3), Army Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (6), Meritorious Unit Commendation Award, Battle Efficiency “E” Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal (7), National Defense Service Medal (2), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (11) and Expert Rifle Medal.
