LCDR JED S. LIFA

Past Acting Executive Officer, USS Comstock (LSD 45)

15 March 2024 LCDR Lifa is a native of Kailua, Hawaii. He attended the United States Naval Academy where he graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Oceanography. 

LCDR Lifa’s first sea assignment was onboard USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50) where he served in the Engineering Department as the Machinery Division Officer as well as the Visit Board Search and Seizure Officer from 2012-2014. On this tour he received his Surface Warfare Officer and Engineering Officer of the Watch qualifications.

His second sea assignment was onboard flagship USNS 1st LT BALDOMERO LOPEZ (T-AK-3010) as the Force Protection Officer for Maritime Prepositioning Ship’s Squadron TWO (COMPSRON-2) in Diego Garcia, B.I.O.T. from 2014-2015. In the winter of 2015, he reported to CSCS Detachment Mayport, FL, as one of the first officers to stand up the Littoral Combat Ship Training Facility (LTF) Detachment Mayport, FL, where he served as the Administrative Officer and Officer of the Deck Instructor from 2015-2017. In the spring of 2017, he reported to Coastal Riverine Squadron FOUR (CRS-4) as the Platoon Officer then Officer-in-Charge of Charlie and Delta Company (25ft and 34ft Patrol Boats), executing a deployment to UAE and the Panama Canal. He then continued on to Department Head School in Newport, RI, and reported to his first Department Head tour as the Operations Officer onboard USS PIONEER (MCM 9) from March, 2021 to September, 2022, getting her out of the yards and through successful Basic Phase.

LCDR Lifa now serves onboard the USS COMSTOCK (LSD 45) as the Plans and Tactics Officer and Executive Officer-Acting.

His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards).
