Master Chief Wimberly, a native of Toledo, Ohio, entered Recruit Training Command in July 1999. Following completion of basic training he reported to Aerographer’s Mate A-1 school at Center for Naval Technical Training Unit (CNATTU), Keesler AFB, MS.
Upon graduation, he reported for duty at Naval Pacific Meteorology and Oceanography Detachment Point Mugu, CA. Follow on fleet assignments include, USS ESSEX (LHD 2), Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN; deploying onboard USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD 6), Strike Group Oceanography Team San Diego; deploying onboard USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN 74). He completed a Command Senior Chief tour onboard USS BILLINGS (LCS 15), and Command Master Chief tour onboard USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52). His shore assignments include the Naval Atlantic Meteorology and Oceanography Facility, Jacksonville, FL, Naval Oceanography Antisubmarine Warfare Center, Yokosuka, Japan, and instructor duty at CNATTU, Keesler AFB, MS.
Master Chief Wimberly is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 215 and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course. He has also earned a BA Degree in Natural Science & Mathematics and the Master Training Specialist designation.
His decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8 awards); Navy Good Conduct Medal (7 awards); Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (4 awards); Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon (8 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
