Command Master Chief, USS John Finn (DDG 113)

31 January 2024 A native of Northern Illinois, Command Master Chief Bemley enlisted in the United States Navy in April 2004 and reported Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois.

Master Chief Bemley’s first assignment was Naval Air Station, Keflavik, Iceland in October 2004. He then transferred to Patrol Squadron FOUR (VP-4) in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. While at VP-4 the team completed a deployment to the SEVENTH Fleet AOR in support of Global War on Terrorism (GWOT) and other maritime operations. After completing training enroute, he reported to Navy Information Operations Command (NIOC) Hawaii. While stationed at NIOC Hawaii, he completed an individual augmentee deployment to Afghanistan.

Next, he reported to NIOC Maryland and would serve as the Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) for the Meade Operations Center’s Special Operations Division (SOD) in support of multiple GWOT operations. Upon completion of the SOD tour, he would serve in multiple positions within the Joint Special Operations Command Intelligence Brigade and Joint Cyber Operations Group (JCOG), including as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL) Brigade’s Joint Targets Squadron and the JCOG North Squadron. During his career, he had the opportunity to serve as the Navy Personnel Command’s Information Warfare Community Branch LCPO, Rating Lead/Lead Detailer, and the Enlisted Distribution Division (PERS-40) SEL. Later, he would proudly serve as the CSEL onboard the USS CHAFEE (DDG 90) from the historic Pearl Harbor waterfront to San Diego, CA.

He is currently the CSEL aboard the Mighty USS JOHN FINN (DDG 113) in Forward-Deployed Naval Forces Yokosuka, Japan.

Command Master Chief Bemley has earned a Bachelor of Science in National Security and a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Johns Hopkins University. He is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 200 Gold), Navy Senior Leader Course, the Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 26), CMC/COB course (178), and the Joint Special Operations Forces Command Course. His personal and team awards are consistent with other senior enlisted leaders in the U.S. Navy
