CDR Magdalena Keel

EXECUTIVE OFFICER, USS GRIDLEY (DDG 101)

20 February 2024 CDR Keel is a native of West Harrison, IN. She graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Oceanography and she holds a Masters of Arts Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. 

Her previous sea duty assignments include: Electrical Officer, 1st and 2nd Division Officer in USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42); Damage Control Assistant in USS INGRAHAM (FFG 61); Engineer Officer in USS MAHAN (DDG 72); Combat Systems Officer in the staff of Commander, Destroyer Squadron TWO SIX (CDS 26). She has deployed multiple times to the Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Fleets and supported Operations IRAQI FREEDOM, ENDURING FREEDOM, and INHERENT RESOLVE. 

Shore assignments include: Company Officer and Logistics Officer at the United States Naval Academy, Branch Head for ASW and Aviation in the Surface Warfare Directorate (N96) and Section Head for Surface Electronic Warfare in the Information Warfare Directorate (N2N6) Navy Staff. 

Commander Keel reported as the Executive Officer in USS GRIDLEY (DDG 101) homeported in Everett, Washington in January 2024.
