CDR David Ingel is a native of California and enlisted in the Navy as a Personnelman in July 2001.

He commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer in 2009, through Officer Candidate School (OCS) commissioning source. Following OCS, CDR Ingel served as a Division Officer in MCM CREW LEADER; serving as the ship’s Electrical and Auxiliaries Officer. In July of 2011, he joined USS OKANE as the Fire Control Officer, completing two independent FIFTH Fleet Ballistic Missile Defense deployments. Upon completing his tour on OKANE, CDR Ingel attended Naval Post-Graduate School (NPS) and graduated with a Masters in National Security Affairs.

Following NPS, CDR Ingel earned an IAMD Weapons Tactics Instructor designation, prior to attending Surface Warfare Officer Department Head School in Newport, RI.

CDR Ingel joined USS MILIUS for his first Department Head tour as the Plans and Tactics Officer and fleeted up onboard MILIUS as the Combat Systems Officer. He then served at CTF-64 as a lead IAMD Planner and FORMIDABLE SHIELD 23 Exercise Lead.

CDR Ingel assumed the role as Executive Officer onboard USS SHOUP in April 2024.

CDR Ingel’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, as well as multiple unit and service awards.
