Cmdr. Mark P. Stines is a native of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He is a 2005 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Transportation Operations and a United States Coast Guard Third Mate's license. He holds a Master's Degree in International Relations from Norwich University.
His operational tours include communications officer aboard USS DONALD COOK (DDG 75); weapons officer at Patrol Coast Crew Golf; weapons officer and combat systems officer on USS NITZE (DDG 94), and navigator of USS IWO JIMA (LHD 7). He served as Executive Officer aboard USS ARLINGTON (LPD 24).
Ashore, Stines’ assignments include serving as a ship handling instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, Rhode Island; force navigator for Naval Surface Force Atlantic and executive officer of Afloat Training Group Norfolk.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal and various other personal, unit and campaign awards.
