Command Master Chief Jackey Smith, a native of Lincoln, Nebraska, enlisted in the United States Navy in April 2000. Following completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, she attended Seaman Apprenticeship School before reporting to her ultimate duty station.
She was advanced to Chief Petty Officer on September 16, 2008.
Her sea duty assignments include USS ROOSEVELT (DDG 80), USS ASHLAND (LSD 48), Navy Expeditionary Command, Detachment Combat Camera Norfolk, Navy Public Affairs Center West, and USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110), where she served as the Senior Enlisted Leader from 2021-2024.
Her shore duty assignments include, Naval Air Station Jacksonville, Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Defense Information School, the Office of the Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, Navy Region Hawaii, and U.S. Pacific Fleet.
She assumed duties as Command Master Chief, Commander Destroyer Squadron Twenty-Three in October 2024.
She is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, CMC/COB course, Major Command CMC course and holds a BA in Mass Communications from Arizona State University.
Her personal awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5 awards), Combat Action Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (7 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
