CDR Nicholas Schwartz

Chief Staff Officer, Amphibious Squadron ONE (CPR 1)

20 November 2024 CDR Nicholas Schwartz began his professional development at the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated with honors in 2009; double majoring in Philosophy and History with a minor in Classical Civilization. After his tenure at PITT, he was accepted into Officer Candidate School and commissioned in 2010.

In 2011 CDR Schwartz joined the Surface Warfare community and began a single-prolonged first tour on the USS Green Bay from 2011 until 2015; he served as the Main Propulsion Officer, Weapons Officer, Force Protection Officer, Assistant Combat Systems Officer and Assistant Chief Engineer. While stationed on the Green Bay he received two Navy Achievement Medals.

For shore duty CDR Schwartz moved to Naples, Italy where he served on the Naval Forces Europe / Naval Forces Africa / Sixth Fleet Staff as a Planning Officer and Assistant Battle Watch Captain in Current Operations (N33) from 2015 until 2018. While at CNE/CNA/C6F, he received a Commendation Medal and earned his Masters Degree in Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma.

Following his graduation from Department Head School in 2019, CDR Schwartz served onboard the USS Harpers Ferry as the First Lieutenant and Senior Watch Officer and later Fleeted-Up to the Plans and Tactics Officer for his second tour. While on the USS Harpers Ferry he received two Commendation Medals. CDR Schwartz recently served as the Operations Officer (N3) and Senior Watch Officer at Amphibious Squadron One and is currently serving as the Chief Staff Officer.
