A native of Salem, Indiana, Commander Frank McQuiddy enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in December 2000 and reported to San Diego Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Upon completion of recruit training he reported to 9th Engineer Support Battalion in Okinawa Japan. Commander McQuiddy graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. He also holds a MBA from Pennsylvania State University and an MA from Air University.
Afloat, Commander McQuiddy completed his division officer tours aboard MCM Crew Swerve as the Training and Operations Officer and USS Ford (FFG 54) as the Navigator. As a department head he served as the Chief Engineer aboard USS James E. Williams (DDG 95) and USS Green Bay (LPD 20). He then served as Executive Officer of USS Champion (MCM 4) and USS Dextrous (MCM 13), and commanded USS Dextrous. During his sea tours he made three deployments to U.S. Fifth Fleet and five to Southeast Asia in support of U.S. Seventh Fleet.
Ashore, he served as lead class officer and instructor at Officer Candidate School where he managed the staff and students. He also served in multiple roles supporting the staff of Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet.
Commander McQuiddy’s awards include two Meritorious Service Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, as well as multiple unit and service awards.
