CDR Meghan Gray is a native of St. Louis, Missouri. She received her commission as a Surface Warfare Officer through the ROTC program at the University of Southern California in 2007 where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Sciences with a minor in Environmental Engineering.
CDR Gray’s Division officer tours included Combat Information Center Officer and Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer onboard USS SAN JACINTO (CG-56) and Fire Control Officer onboard USS PREBLE (DDG-88). Her department head tour was a single longer tour onboard USS HOPPER (DDG-70) where she served as Weapons, Combat Systems, and Operations Officer as well as Executive Officer. Throughout her sea duty assignments, CDR Gray has been deployed to the Mediterranean, Indo-Western Pacific, and Arabian Gulf theaters conducting the spectrum of maritime security mission sets both as a part of carrier strike group operations as well as independent Ballistic Missile Defense patrols.
Ashore, CDR Gray’s assignments include Naval Postgraduate School, where she earned her Master of Arts degree in National Security Affairs with concentration in the Middle East, two tours at Naval Central Command in Bahrain as a Maritime and Integrate Air and Missile Defense Planner, and Afloat Training Group San Diego as a Maritime Skills Senior Assessor.
CDR Gray served as Executive Officer of USS CHARLESTON (LCS-18) prior to taking command in November 2024.
