Commander Terjesen is a Surface Warfare Officer, hailing from New York. He received his commission in 2008 from the United States Naval Academy. CDR Terjesen most recently served as the Executive Officer aboard the USS HIGGINS (DDG 76) based out of Yokosuka, Japan.
During previous afloat tours, CDR Terjesen served Division Officer tours aboard the USS CARR (FFG 52) and the staff of Expeditionary Strike Group TWO. As a Department Head, he served as Chief Engineer aboard the USS BULKELEY (DDG 84) and USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG 58). Selected for the Early Command program, he commanded the USS ZEPHYR (PC 8). Throughout his afloat tours he’s conducted operations in the SECOND, FOURTH, SIXTH, and SEVENTH Fleet areas of responsibility.
Ashore, CDR Terjesen attended the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned his Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in autonomous vehicle control and undersea warfare. Later, he served as the Congressional Liaison Officer for OPNAV N96 and the Office of Legislative Affairs, supporting the Navy’s surface combatant portfolio.
