Commander Paul Lavoie is a native of Riverside, CA. He graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs and earned his commission from Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI in June of 2009. At the Naval Postgraduate School, he studied Regional Security Studies (Western Hemisphere).
 

At sea, Commander Lavoie completed his division officer tours aboard USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52) as the Electrical Officer and aboard USS GREENBAY (LPD 20) as the Assistant Operations Officer. He completed his department head tours as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS SHOUP (DDG 86).

Ashore, he served as an Advanced Division Officer Course and Ship handling Instructor at Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, RI. He most recently served in OPNAV N3 as a Chief of Naval Operations Battle Watch Captain in the Navy Operations Center.

Commander Lavoie’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, two Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, and a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal
