CDR Daniel Woods

Executive Officer, USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19)

17 March 2025 Commander Daniel Woods is a native of Huntington, NY. He graduated from the Marist College in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and attained a Master’s of Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College in 2024.

Commander Woods’s Sea assignments include serving as the Anti-Submarine Officer onboard USS COWPENS (CG 63) from May 2009 – September 2011; Auxiliaries Officer onboard USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60) from January 2012 –June 2013; Chief Engineer onboard USS MOMSEN (DDG 92) from October 2017 – December 2018; and Chief Engineer onboard USS ARLINGTON (LPD 24) from April 2019 – January 2021. 

Commander Woods’s shore assignments include serving as a Port Operations Officer for NSA SOUDA BAY from August 2013 – July 2016; Materials Officer for Commander Destroyer Squadron THREE ONE from April 2021 – June 2023; in resident student at the U.S. Naval War College from August 2023 – June 2024. 

Commander Woods’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various other unit and service awards.
