Senior Enlisted Leader, Unmanned Surface Vessel Squadron (USVRON) One

10 March 2025 Senior Chief Petty Officer Arturo Vargas Jr hails from Orlando, Florida. He enlisted in the Navy in May 2006, attending Basic Training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.  He attended Basic Engineering Common Core School and Engineman “C” Isotta Fraschini school in Ingleside, Texas.
 
His shipboard assignments include USS Guardian (MCM 5) homeported in Sasebo, Japan; USS Lassen (DDG 82) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan; USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60) homeported in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and San Diego, California; USS Emory S. Land (AS-39) homeported in Guam; and USS Sentry (MCM-3) homeported in Bahrain.  He also completed sea duty assignments to Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia Port Operations; an Individual Augmentee tour to Camp Leatherneck in Helmand Province, Afghanistan assigned to I Marine Expeditionary Force; and Naval Support Activity Bahrain Harbor Security in Bahrain. 
 
He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 281 Purple).  
 
He reported to Unmanned Surface Vessel Squadron One in Port Hueneme, California in September, 2023.  
 
His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards), the Good Conduct Medal (four awards), as well as various unit awards, campaign and service decorations.
