Master Chief Nicholas Wallace is a native of Glenwood, Illinois, and reported to Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes, Illinois, in June 1998. He began his career after completing Basic Enlisted Submarine School and Machinist Mate “A” School in Groton, Connecticut. He was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2007, completed the Chief of the Boat (COB) program in 2013, and selected into the Command Master Chief (CMC) program in 2016.

His sea tours include USS Parche (SSN 683), USS Alaska (SSBN 732), Undersea Research and Development attached to USS Jimmy Carter (SSN 23), USS Ohio (SSGN 726), as COB aboard USS Connecticut (SSN 22), COB aboard USS Seawolf (SSN 21), CMC of USS Emory S. Land (AS-39), and most recently CMC aboard USS GEORGE H W BUSH (CVN 77). He currently serves as CMC of Commander, Carrier Strike Group NINE.

Ashore, Wallace served as a Recruit Division Commander at RTC, as CMC at TRIDENT Training Facility, Bangor, Washington, as CMC of Submarine Development Squadron (SUBDEVRON) Five, and as CMC at RTC. He has completed multiple deployments in support of national security, numerous Guided Missile Submarines (SSGN) deployments supporting Naval Special Warfare, United States European Command deployments, two arctic deployments, and has surfaced at the North Pole.

Wallace is a graduate of the National Defense University Keystone Course (Class 17-2) and CMC/COB Course (Class 171), and has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (6 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (6 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (7 awards), and various other personal and unit awards.
