CDR Rhett Gilman

Executive Officer, USS MUSTIN (DDG 89)

Commander Rhett Gilman is a native of Houston, Texas and a 2008 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He also holds a Master of Engineering Management degree from Duke University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Oklahoma State University.

His operational assignments include Repair Division Officer aboard USS HALSEY (DDG 97), Reactor Mechanical Division Officer aboard USS HARRY S TRUMAN (CVN 75), Operations Officer aboard USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52), and Main Propulsion Assistant aboard USS CARL VINSON (CVN 70). During those tours, he completed several deployments to the Indo-Pacific and Arabian Gulf.

Ashore, he served as Assistant Nuclear Enlisted Community Manager for the Nuclear Propulsion Program Office (OPNAV N133); Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer Junior Officer detailer at Navy Personnel Command (PERS-41); Global Shaping Division Program Analyst at the Office of the Secretary of Defense Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation (OSD CAPE); and most recently as the Senior Military Assistant to the Director, OSD CAPE.
