CDR Adam N. Nottberg

Executive Officer, USS Omaha (LCS 12) Blue Crew

05 December 2024 Commander Adam Nottberg of Palm Desert, California, is a graduate of the California Maritime Academy, earning a bachelor’s degree in Marine Transportation and commissioned through the Merchant Marine Reserve in 2009. He earned a master’s degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.

Commander Nottberg’s sea tours include Repair, Auxiliaries and Main Propulsion Division Officer aboard USS DECATUR (DDG 73), where he completed two deployments to the 5th Fleet in support of Operations IRAQI and ENDURING FREEDOM. Subsequently, he served as Navigator aboard USS GRIDLEY (DDG 101), where he deployed to the 5th and 7th Fleet Areas of Responsibility. His Department Head tours were served aboard USS PRINCETON (CG 59) as the Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer where he again deployed to the 5th and 7th Fleet Areas of Responsibility with the USS NIMITZ (CVN 68) Carrier Strike Group.

Ashore, CDR Nottberg served as a Navigation, Seamanship and Shiphandling Instructor for the Surface Warfare Officers School’s (SWOS) Basic Division Officer Course, San Diego and as Staff Exercise Planner / Naval Undersea Warfare Training Continuum (NUWTAC) instructor for Undersea Warfighting Development Center (UWDC), Detachment Point Loma.

Adam is a Master Training Specialist and Anti-Submarine / Anti-Surface Warfare Tactics Instructor. His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and multiple unit and service awards.
