Commander Sharp is a native of Columbia, South Carolina and a 2009 graduate of the US Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Economics. He holds a Master of Military Studies from United States Marine Corps University.
CDR Sharp’s assignments at sea include USS MAHAN (DDG 72) as the First Lieutenant and USS SAN DIEGO (LPD 22) as the Navigator. Upon completion of Department Head School, LCDR Sharp served as the First Lieutenant onboard USS WHIDBEY ISLAND (LSD 41), USS BATAAN (LHD 5) as the First Lieutenant and Training Officer, at Destroyer Squadron 50/Task Force 55, he served as Future Operations Officer, Future Plans Officer, and Theatre Security Cooperation Officer.
He currently serves as Executive Officer aboard USS O’KANE (DDG 77).
Commander Sharp has deployed to the Baltic, Mediterranean and Red Seas, and the Arabian Gulf.
Ashore, Commander Sharp served as an Officer Recruiter at Naval Recruiting District San Diego, OPNAV as the Flag Aide to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Warfighting Requirements and Capabilities, N9.
Commander Sharp’s military decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (6), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit, service, and campaign awards.
