LCDR Muzik M. McClinton

Executive Officer, USS JOHN L CANLEY (ESB6) Blue Crew

09 May 2025 A native of Atlanta, Georgia, LCDR Muzik McClinton received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgia State University in 2006. He received his commission in 2010 from Officer Candidate School.

For his Division Officer tours LCDR McClinton served as Repair Officer and Auxiliaries Officer on USS PONCE (LPD 15) and Weapons Officer on PC CREW ECHO and USS WHIRLWIND (PC 11). During his division officer tours, he deployed to FIFTH and SIXTH Fleet, supporting numerous operations.

As a Department Head LCDR McClinton served as Combat Systems Officer onboard USS ANCHORAGE (LPD 23) and First Lieutenant onboard USS MAKIN ISLAND (LHD 8) where he deployed to FIFTH and SEVENTH Fleet.

Ashore LCDR McClinton served as the Assistant Professor of Naval Science at Naval Reserve Officer Training Command, Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia and earned a Master of Business Administration from Savannah State University in 2017. Upon completion of his Department Head sea tours, LCDR McClinton served as Director of Officer of the Deck Phase II at Mariner Skills Training Center Pacific.

LCDR McClinton’s awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (three awards), and multiple unit, campaign and service awards.
