A native of New York City, Commander Werner Reschmeier graduated from Kean University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He commissioned through Officer Candidate School Newport, RI in July 2009, and obtained a master’s degree in Military Studies at the Marine Corps University in Quantico, VA.
CDR Reschmeier’s first tour was on USS GREEN BAY (LPD 20) out of San Diego, where he served as ELECTRO, and CICO deploying to 5th Fleet. His second tour was on USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62) where he served as the Fire Controls Officer serving Forward Deployed Naval Forces Japan 7th Fleet operations.
As a Department Head, Reschmeier then served as the Weapons Officer onboard BMD ship USS BARRY (DDG 52) in Forward Deployed Naval Forces Japan. In 2020, he reported to USS FORREST SHERMAN (DDG 98) as the Combat Systems Officer and completed a 5th & 6th Fleet deployment.
Ashore, CDR Reschmeier was assigned to Center for Surface Combat Systems as an instructor in San Diego, CA. Later he served at OPNAVN96 at the Pentagon.
His awards include the, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various other campaign and unit awards.
