CDR Jeremy R. Mears

07 April 2025 Commander Jeremy Mears entered Naval Service in 2004 as an Enlisted Nuclear Field Electricians Mate. Completing Nuclear Field Power School and Prototype in 2006.

CDR Mears spent his first two years of sea service in USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) where he earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Qualification. In 2008 he was selected for Officer Candidate School.

Following commissioning, CDR Mears’ first assignment was aboard USS MILIUS (DDG 69) where he served as the Strike Officer, Communications Officer, and Damage Control Assistant.

In 2013, CDR Mears earned his Master’s Degree in National Security Affairs – Europe/Eurasia and completed Joint Planning Military Education Phase I at Naval Post-Graduate School. In 2013 he transferred to NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, where he served as Flag Aide to the Deputy Military Representative to the NATO Military Committee.

After his overseas tours CDR Mears reported to USS SAMPSON (DDG 102) as Chief Engineer. He then fleeted up as the Combat Systems Officer during SAMPSON’s 2017-18 deployment. While onboard SAMPSON he led the ship through two INSURV’s and a rigorous dry-docking availability.

On Shore CDR Mears Served as Commander Naval Surface Forces Pacific’s (CNSP) Navigation Assessment Team lead, DDG 1000, LCS, MCM, and FFG-62 Training and Readiness lead, and Force Tactical Officer. Following CNSP he completed a joint tour with United States Special Operations Command in their Counter Weapons of Mass Destruction directorate.

Commander Mears’ personal military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various unit and service awards.
