A Pennsylvania native, CDR Kachman is a 2009 graduate of Pennsylvania State University in Information Sciences and Technology and later a Master of Business Administration focused on Information Security Management from Saint Leo University.
CDR Kachman’s sea duty assignments include Division Officer Tours on USS San Antonio (LPD 17), and USS James E. Williams (DDG 95). His Department Head tours included serving as Operations Officer, USS Truxtun (DDG 103) and Operations and Readiness Officer, Destroyer Squadron SIX ZERO (CDS 60). Following his department head tour he served as the Flag Secretary for Carrier Strike Group TWO (CSG 2). During these assignments, he made four deployments serving in the 5th and 6th Fleet Area of Operations.
Ashore he served as the Executive Officer for Navy Reserve Center Salt Lake City, Utah overseeing 14 Navy Reserve Units ensuring their Operational Readiness for tasking; and he served as the N71 Division Lead at the Surface Warfare Officer School overseeing maintenance, research and development of trainers and simulators for the Surface Fleet. He recently completed his ashore tour as Deputy Director, Commander’s Action Group for Commander, Surface Forces Atlantic.
His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 Awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals (3 Awards), as well as various campaign and unit awards.
