CMDCM Pittenger is a native of Ohio. After graduating from Norwalk High School he joined the Navy in July 2002. After completion of basic training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Ill., he attended STG “A” School. His assignments include USS Barry (2003-2007), CNFJ DET Okinawa (2007-2010), USS Paul Hamilton (2010-2014), CDS-15 (2014-2017), Recruit Training Command (2017-2020), and USS Patriot (2020-2022). CMDCM Pittenger has served in the following locales: Norfolk, Okinawa, Hawaii, Yokosuka, Great Lakes, and Sasebo. He has worked in the 3rd, 5th, and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility, with a large portion of time spent in 7th Fleet. During his tours CMDCM Pittenger has served at multiple positions to include Sonar Log Keeper, Sonar Supervisor, WCS, LPO, LCPO, RDC, Staff Sonar Technician, and Senior Enlisted Leader.
CMDCM Pittenger holds multiple unit and personal awards. He has been blessed with the opportunity to, and has qualified as an Integrated Undersea Surveillance System Specialist (IUSS), Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS), and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS).
CMDCM Pittenger’s assignments and life have taught him to lead with love while focusing on warfighter competency. CMDCM was assigned as Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Far East’s CMC before assuming his role as CMC for Amphibious Squadron Eleven in Sasebo, Japan.
