CDR Jeffrey E. York

Executive Officer, USS Spruance (DDG 111)

29 July 2025 Commander Jeffrey E. York is a native of Long Beach, California and is a 2006 graduate of California State University Long Beach. He received his commission via Officer Candidate School in July, 2009. CDR York holds a master’s degree from American Military University in Military History. He is an Integrated Air and Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor (WTI) and earned his patch in 2020.

Afloat, CDR York served as the Combat Information Center Officer onboard USS CURTS (FFG 38) and as the Fire Control Officer onboard USS PINCKNEY (DDG 91). During these tours he deployed to the 5th Fleet area of responsibility in support of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. His department head tours include assignments as the Weapons Officer and Operations Officer onboard USS MOBILE BAY (CG 53).  He completed MOBILE BAY’s Around-The-World deployment, performing operations within every fleet area of responsibility.

Ashore, CDR York served on the COMNAVEUR/COMNAVAF/COMSIXTHFLT staff as an Air Defense Planner and BMD Upper Tier Coordination Officer. He also served the Combat Systems Officer at Afloat Training Group San Diego.

CDR York’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
