A native of Derry, New Hampshire, Commander Jessica Hodgeman graduated from Plymouth State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning. She received her commission from Officer Candidate School in April 2010.

In June 2010, Commander Hodgeman reported onboard USS BONHOMME RICHARD (LHD-6) where she served as Electronic Warfare Officer and Electrical Officer. While onboard, she participated in a hull swap with USS ESSEX (LHD-2) in addition to RIMPAC 2010 and RIMPAC 2012. Her second Division Officer tour was as the Assistant First Lieutenant on the USS NEW ORLEANS (LPD-18), completing a Fifth Fleet deployment in 2013 as the acting First Lieutenant. Her Lieutenant shore assignment was as the Assistant Officer-in-Charge (AOIC) at SWOS BDOC San Diego, where she taught maritime warfare, engineering, seamanship, and ship handling. Her Department Head tours afloat were on the USS COMSTOCK (LSD-45) as the First Lieutenant prior to fleeting up as the Plans and Tactics Officer, where she completed a Seventh Fleet Deployment participating in Pacific Partnership 20, in addition to providing urgent COVID-19 Humanitarian Assistance in Fourth Fleet. She is an Amphibious Warfare Weapons Tactic Instructors and completed her post-department head shore tour as SWATT Director, SWATT Lead Planner, and AMW Lead at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center Headquarters, Fleet Training Pacific.

Commander Hodgeman’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, as well as, multiple unit and service awards.
