CDR Jeff Steiner

Executive Officer, USS Santa Barbara (LCS 32), Blue Crew

04 September 2025 CDR Steiner is a native of New Lenox, Illinois. He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Psychology and then earned his commission through Officer Candidate School.

At sea, his Division Officer assignments include Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and Force Protection Officer aboard USS PORTER (DDG 78) and Navigator aboard USS FITZGERALD (DDG 62). His Department Head assignments include Operations Officer aboard USS SHOUP (DDG 86) and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS BUNKER HILL (CG 52).

Ashore, CDR Steiner completed assignments at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) where he earned a Master of Arts degree in Security Studies with a focus on Homeland Security and Defense. Most recently he was assigned to Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet where he served as the Force Navigator and Surface Warfare Officer Programs Manager.

CDR Steiner is currently assigned as Executive Officer, USS SANTA BARBARA (LCS 32) homeported in San Diego, California.

His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), and various campaign and service medals and ribbons.
