CDR Brandon T. Sales

Executive Officer, USS John L. Canley (ESB 6) Gold Crew

25 September 2025 Commander Brandon T. Sales, a native of Watsonville, CA, was commissioned in 2008 through the United States Naval Academy where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology.  CDR Sales also holds a Master of Arts degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.

CDR Sales’ sea duty assignments include USS BENFOLD (DDG 65) as Electronic Warfare Officer and Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure Officer, USS GARY (FFG 51) as Navigator, and USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2) as Combat Systems Officer and Operations Officer.

CDR Sales served ashore at Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) as a Future Operations Planner and SEAL Team FIVE as a Troop Operations Officer.  He recently completed a tour as Staff Planner on Task Force 76/3 (Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN).

CDR Sales’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2), Navy Achievement Medal (2), and various campaign and service medals.
