CDR David R. LaShomb

Executive Officer, USS MOMSEN (DDG 92)

17 October 2025 Commander LaShomb is a native of South Kingstown, RI. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and was commissioned into the United States Navy in 2010 through Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI.

His sea tours include Electrical Officer and Fire Control Officer onboard USS WAYNE E. MEYER (DDG 108) and Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer onboard USS RUSSELL (DDG 59); both ships homeported in San Diego, CA. During his sea tours, he deployed four times to the SEVENTH Fleet Area of Responsibility and once to the FIFTH Fleet Area of Responsibility.

Ashore, he served as an instructor within the N73 Maritime Warfighting and Department Head Training Directorate at Surface Warfare Schools Command in Newport, RI. He earned two Master of Science degrees in Systems Engineering and Systems Engineering Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, and earned a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College in Newport, RI.

His military decorations include multiple Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, along with various unit and campaign awards. He has completed Joint Professional Military Education, Phases I and II.

Commander LaShomb is currently the Executive Officer of USS MOMSEN (DDG 92), homeported in San Diego, CA.
