Commander Park is a native of Queens, New York and raised in Diamond Bar, California. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering. He later earned a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School, where he also completed the Undersea Warfare Curriculum and Joint Military Education Phase I.
At sea, CDR Park's initial assignment was Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer aboard USS BENFOLD (DDG-65), based in San Diego, California. During his tour, he participated in RIMPAC 2010 and supported Operation Tomodachi while embarked aboard USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN-76). He subsequently served as Main Propulsion Assistant aboard USS CHANCELLORSVILLE (CG-62). His department head tour was a single-longer-tour Chief Engineer aboard USS STETHEM (DDG-63), where he homeport shifted from Yokosuka, Japan to San Diego and conducted a dual docking availability at BAE Shipyard.
Ashore, CDR Park served as Protocol Officer for Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Korea (CNFK) in Seoul, Republic of Korea (ROK), where he coordinated visits for high-level dignitaries, including the Chief of Naval Operations. He later served at the Pentagon as an Action Officer in N721 Navy Analytics Branch within the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Warfighting Development. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations for CNFK, headquartered in Busan, ROK.
His personal decorations include the Navy Meritorious Service Medal (1 award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
