Command Master Chief, COMMANDER, NAVAL SURFACE FORCE, U.S. PACIFIC FLEET

05 December 2025 Command Master Chief Brian Metzger is a native of Waukesha, Wisconsin. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July of 2000, where he attended basic training and Enginemen “A” school in Great Lakes, IL.

Master Chief Metzger’s sea tours include USS Camden (AOE-2), USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19); Auxiliaries Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO) onboard USS Shiloh (CG 67); USS McCampbell (DDG 95); Senior Enlisted Advisor (SEA)/Main Propulsion Assistant onboard USS Dextrous (MCM 13); USS Devastator (MCM 6); and 3MC onboard USS Germantown (LSD 42).

Master Chief Metzger’s Shore tours include Fuels Chief at Fleet Industrial Supply Center Yokosuka; Basic Engineering Common Core LCPO at Surface Warfare Officer School (SWOS) Unit Great Lakes; and SEA of Engineering Readiness training for Surface ships SWOS Newport. In March 2021, he was selected into the Command Senior Enlisted Program where he was assigned to Naval Beach Unit SEVEN (NBU-7), and USS New Orleans (LPD 18) both homeported in Sasebo, Japan. Command Master Chief is currently assigned as Commander Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet Command Master chief.

Command Master Chief Metzger’s personal achievements and awards include: Graduate Naval Leadership and Ethics Center Command Master Chief & Chief of the Boat course, Senior Enlisted Academy #227, Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Master Training Specialist, Meritorious Service Medal (2) Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (6), Battle “E” with a wreath, and numerous unit and campaign awards.
