A native of Fort Worth, TX, LCDR Pfarner joined the Navy in June 2011 upon graduating from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, NY, earning his bachelors in Maritime Operations and Technology. He first reported to USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109) where he served as Main Propulsion Officer and First Lieutenant. His second division officer tour was aboard USS Wasp (LHD 1) where he was assigned the Electrical Officer.
LCDR Pfarner successfully completed his Department Head tours on USS Jackson (LCS 6) as the Combat Systems Officer and Operations Officer, where he successfully completed three deployments in the C7F AOR. Notably, he successfully planned and executed CARAT Thailand 2022, operated in Valiant Shield 2022, and planned and executed Jackson’s involvement in Pacific Partnership 2023 bolstering strategic sea lanes and maintaining relations with Pacific and Oceanic nations including Marshall Islands, Australia, Fiji, and Samoa.
While ashore post Division Officer, he served as the Steam Engineering Lead Instructor at Surface Warfare Officers School Command in Newport, RI. He completed JPME Phase I and earned Master Training Specialist qualification. Most recently, LCDR Pfarner completed WTI production at Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center (SMWDC) as SWATT Lead Planner. LCDR Pfarner is currently assigned as Executive Officer, COMMANDER, UNMANNED SURFACE VESSEL SQUADRON THREE (USVRON 3).
