CMDCM John Lamson

Command Master Chief, USS Comstock (LSD 45)

17 December 2025 Master Chief John A. Lamson, a native of Oakdale, Minnesota, graduated from North St. Paul High School and enlisted in the United States Navy in November 2006. Following completion of basic training he completed Aviation Support Equipment Technician (AS) “A” School in Pensacola, Florida. He reported to his first assignment at Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) Oceana in Virginia Beach, VA in August 2007.

In September 2009, he was selected and transferred to the highly coveted Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron (Blue Angels). In January 2013, after completing 65 Air Shows across the world he transferred to the Center for Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit (CNATTU), North Island in San Diego, CA as an instructor earning his Master Training Specialist (MTS) designation.

In January 2017 he transferred to USS ESSEX (LHD-2). While aboard the mighty Iron Gator, he deployed two times in support of OPERATION FREEDOM SENTINEL and OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE while also completing Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercises in 2020 and 2022. During this tour he was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2019 and Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2022.

He then reported PCU JOHN L. CANLEY (ESB 6) Gold September 2022, where he served as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader commissioning the ship in February 2024. In May 2024, he completed CMC/COB school and subsequently reported to USS MIGUEL KEITH (ESB 5) Blue Crew completing two 4-month INDOPACOM patrols, advancing to Master Chief Petty Officer and proudly earning the Battle-E. He reported to USS COMSTOCK (LSD-45) in December 2025 where he currently serves as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.

CMDCM Lamson is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (class 259, Gray), Command Master Chief Course (class 269) and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Organizational Management.
