Command Master Chief, USS John Finn (DDG 113)

15 December 2025 Command Master Chief Billy L. Fuson is a native of Frankfurt, Germany, and hails from Newton County, GA. He enlisted in the Navy in June 2004, attending Basic Training at Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes, IL. He attended Hospital Corpsman “A” School, Great Lakes, IL, Field Medical Battalion – East Jacksonville, NC, and Independent Duty Corpsman “C” School, San Diego, CA.

His sea assignments include the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), 2D Marine Division, 6TH Marine Regiment with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, USS Barry (DDG-52), USS Pearl Harbor (LSD 52), and USS Santa Barbara (LCS 32).

His shore assignments include Naval Dental Center Camp Lejeune, NC, and Afloat Training Group San Diego. His shore duty includes combat deployment as an Individual Augmentee with the Army’s 1st and 3rd Infantry Divisions.

He was selected for the Command Senior Enlisted program in 2024 and has enjoyed a successful tour onboard USS Santa Barbara (LCS 32). He is currently serving onboard USS John Finn (DDG 113).

He holds an associate degree in Business Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration with a concentration in Emergency Management. He is a Master Training and Afloat Training Specialist. His personal decorations the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (six awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), and various unit, campaign, and service decorations. He is a graduate of the Sea Enlisted Academy (253/Brown) and Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat, Class 270. He is a recipient of the John Henry Balch Award and the 2016 Independent Duty Corpsman of the Year Award.
