ATG San Diego - 2016 Sailor of the Year

13 February 2017 PO2(SW/AW) Marc Baltazar is a native Olongapo, Philippines. He enlisted in the United States Navy through Delayed Entry Program in April 1, 2009. He graduated High School in March of 2003. He completed Recruit Training Command at RTC Great Lakes in June, 2009 with follow-on training at Storekeeper “A” school at Meridian Mississippi. He reported to his first assignment at USS BOXER (LHD 4) from August 2009 to January 2014. During this tour he worked in S8 and S1 as a Financial LS. During this tour he was the ESWS coordinator for supply. While onboard he was advanced to the rank of Second Class Petty Officer. After completing his tour onboard the USS BOXER, he attended the Unit Level R supply and the Navy Instructor Training Courses from March 2014 to April 2014. Upon graduation, he transferred to the Afloat Training Group San Diego (ATGSD). While onboard ATGSD, he helped established the N44 Department which managed the budgets of ATG San Diego, EAP and ATG Pacific. LS2 Baltazar’s list of awards include: Navy and Marine Corps Medal (x3), Letter of Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Navy “E” (x2), Good Conduct (x2), National Defense Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Navy Sea Service Ribbon and Sharpshooter Pistol Ribbon.
