CDR Ludwig Mann III

Executive Officer, USS Anchorage (LPD 23)

14 October 2020 Commander Mann is a native of Sayreville, New Jersey. He enlisted as a Nuclear Machinist’s Mate in 1997 where he serves aboard Submarine NR-1 and USS ANNAPOLIS (SSN 760). He earned his commission in 2005 after graduation at SUNY Maritime College where he earned Bachelors of Science Degree in Marine Environmental Science.

Commander Mann’s Division Officer tours include USS HALSEY (DDG 97) where he served as ORDO and ASWO for her maiden Seventh Fleet deployment. His second tour was on board USS DOYLE (FFG 39) as the Auxiliaries Officer. As a department head, he served as Chief Engineer on board USS SHOUP (DDG 86) for an extended Fifth Fleet deployment and completed his second department head tour as Chief Engineer for commissioning and sail around on board USS MONTGOMERY (LCS 8).

Ashore, he served as executive aide to the POLAD and effects analyst at US SOUTHERN COMMAND. After his department head tours, he was the Officer in Charge for Surface Warfare Officer School, Engineering Learning Site, San Diego where he completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I. Commander Mann’s awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Commendation Medal (3), Joint Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal (5) and numerous unit awards.
