Master Chief Wohlgemuth, a native of southern California, entered the U.S. Navy in 1995. He completed recruit training at Great Lakes, Illinois with follow on training at Basic Enlisted Submarine School, Groton, Connecticut.

Master Chief Wohlgemuth’s military education includes Sonar Technician “A” and “C” school, Basic Instructor Training, Senior Enlisted Academy (Green Group) and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat course.  In 2014 he became a National Defense University Keystone Fellow.

His shipboard tours include USS Houston (SSN 713), USS Columbia (SSN 771), USS Miami (SSN 755) as well as an emergent fill onboard USS Key West (SSN 722) during a Western Pacific deployment. He has served as the Chief of the Boat in USS Texas (SSN 775) where he conducted the first Virginia Class Arctic operations and subsequent surfacing through the ice and a deployment to SOUTHCOM. His second COB tour was in USS Springfield (SSN 761) completing a EUCOM deployment in support of Operations Active Endeavor and Operation Inherent Resolve.
 
Master Chief Wohlgemuth has served as the Command Master Chief of Regional Support Group and Naval Submarine Support Facility New London, Submarine Development Squadron Twelve and Naval Base Point Loma. He is currently serving as the Command Master Chief in USS Anchorage (LPD 23).
 
He is authorized to wear several personal and unit awards but is most proud of the 5 Battle “E” awards he has earned as a result of the incredible efforts of his shipmates.
